Peppermint belongs to the Lamiaceae family in the genus Mentha and botanically named Mentha piperita. Originally native to Europe, peppermint is now cultivated in nearly all regions globally, growing well in shady conditions and featuring lance-shaped, purple-veined and dark-green leaves with purple-colored flowers.
