In 1945, Ruth Bigelow heard a remarkable story. In Delaware, sometime in the 1600’s, early colonists created a very special tea made by blending grated orange peel and ground sweet spice. The mixture would be put into stone crocks and stored in cold cellars. Ruth was intrigued. She thought this might just be the kind of tea with which to launch a new tea company…a dream she’d had for many years. There was just one problem: this story had given her an idea, but no recorded recipe. Undaunted, Ruth disappeared into her kitchen and began “sperimenting” (a favorite word of hers). After weeks of trial and error, she emerged with her version of this early Colonial creation. And so Constant Comment, our company’s very first tea, was born.
