A longtime favorite due to its rich, nutty flavor & pleasingly chewy texture, hulless barley is an excellent whole grain source of fiber, protein & minerals (including iron, phosphorus & selenium)
Sort & rinse. Bring 3 cups water & 1 cup barley to boil, reduce & simmer, covered for 1-1½ hours or until grain is tender
Suggested Uses:
- Reduce cooking time by soaking grain overnight.
- Sub for rice in soups, stews, casseroles, & salads.
- Ground or cracked barley adds texture & flavor to crackers, breads, & cookies
For optimal shelf life, store in a cool, dry place.
